21390 posts · Joined 2009. #2 · Jan 24, 2022. Oil can leak down the housing (or from the oil cooler seals) into the valley and out of the rear near the transmission. Oil cooler leaks almost always find their way to the transmission. I had my patience tested.
2295 posts · Joined 2017. #7 · Jan 9, 2019. Although not talking the same engine, I rely on the oil life monitor for my changes and change around the 5% mark. This normally equates to 7500-9000 miles depending on the driving (towing, idling, remote start, ethanol level in the fuel, etc).

I read in the 2014 eco diesel owners manual you should inspect the front and rear axle fluid every 2 years or 20k miles. It says to change it at that frequency if used off-road, towing, police use, etc. I changed my front and rear diff fluid on my 2012 3.6L wk2 around 50k after buying it at 30k.
